Pyeongchang Ji Dong-bong House
평창지동봉가옥 · 平昌智東鳳家屋

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThe house consists of two buildings, an anchae (main quarters) and a sarangchae (men's quarters), of which only the anchae retains its original form. The anchae has an L-shaped (giyeok-shaped) plan: to the left of the central daecheong hall are two geonneonbang rooms, and to the right, set at a right angle, are the anbang (main room) and the kitchen. A toenmaru, a narrow wooden veranda, runs from in front of the geonneonbang to the daecheong, and another is set along the outer side of the anbang. The sarangchae has a single-line (il-shaped) plan, with a storeroom to the left of the gate and two sarangbang rooms to the right. A detached annex built further to the right contains a cattle shed and a foot-powered mill house, though the mill is now used as a general shed. The date of the house's original construction is unknown, but an inscription preserved on its roof tiles shows that the present buildings were erected in 1941. The anchae has undergone some partial repair but remains in good condition.
