This is a residential house built in 1735, the eleventh year of King Yeongjo of Joseon, by Oryujeong Kim Du-haeng (1705–1785). Following the example of the Chinese Jin-dynasty poet Tao Yuanming, he planted five willow trees in the rear garden of his house and built a pavilion there, naming it Oryujeong, meaning Pavilion of Five Willows. The building measures four kan across the front and five kan along the side, and forms a square, ㅁ-shaped floor plan enclosing a central courtyard. To the left of the sarangbang, the men's reception quarters, two kan were given over to a wooden floor, with a narrow veranda running around it fitted with a carved balustrade. It is a valuable example representative of the yangban houses concentrated in the Andong region.
