Sindangsanseong Fortress, Changnyeong
창녕 신당산성 · 昌寧 新堂山城

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krSindangsanseong is a mountain fortress on the low hills behind Sindang Village, built running around the top of the ridge. Much of it has collapsed, but its overall form survives. The lower part of the walls is built of mixed stone and earth, but on steeper slopes the lower sections are built of natural or dressed granite to prevent collapse. Local residents call Sindangsanseong "Mokmaseong" (Horse-raising Fortress), suggesting that horses may once have been raised there, though this cannot be confirmed, as there are no records. The only support for this is that Gyeseong-myeon was once the seat of an old county (hyeon). The exact date of the fortress's construction is unknown.
