This house was built around 1910 by Ham Yeong-ik, grandfather of the present owner, and is known as Dangdudaek. The building measures four bays across the front and two bays deep, forming an L-shaped (giyeok-shaped) plan. It originally had no toenmaru (narrow veranda), but one was added about fifty years ago when the earthen floor was repaired and replaced with a cement floor. The roof is a paljak (hipped-and-gabled) roof, whose roofline forms the shape of the character 八 (eight) when viewed from the side. The byre and storehouse are roofed with a matbae (gable) roof, whose roofline forms the shape of the character 人 (person) when viewed from the side. The wall is built of earth mixed with stone and topped with roof tiles, giving the whole an overall harmony.
