This pagoda stands on a hillside on the eastern side of the Gyeongpo Industrial Road, which runs from Gyeongju to Pohang; the name of the temple it once belonged to is unknown. It is a three-story stone pagoda built in imitation of a brick pagoda, about 2.5m in height. A huge natural rock outcrop serves as its foundation; on its flat upper surface two stones were placed as a support before the body stone was set on top. Corner pillars are carved on the first-story body stone, and on its south face is a gamsil, a small niche for housing a Buddha statue, measuring about 37cm in height and 31cm in width. Holes in the upper surface of the stone beneath the niche and in the underside of the lintel stone above it suggest that a stone door originally stood there. The first-story roof stone, assembled from four pieces, has one tier on its underside and five tiers on its upper surface. The second-story body stone, likewise assembled from four stones, has carved corner pillars, while the badly damaged second- and third-story roof stones, each a single stone, take a form similar to that of the first-story roof stone. The third-story body stone and the finial above it are lost, and on the upper surface of the third-story roof stone is a socket hole about 20cm in diameter and 10cm deep, once used to fix the central finial post. Judging from its style of construction, this pagoda is presumed to date from the Unified Silla period.
