Yeongilru Pavilion

This pavilion stands on the eastern peak of Busosan, in Buyeo, commanding a distant view of Yeoncheonbong Peak on Gyeryongsan in Gongju. A pavilion called Yeongildae is said to have once stood on this spot, a place where people would greet the sun rising over Yeoncheonbong Peak. The present building is a gwana mun, a gate of a Joseon-period local government office, built in 1871, the eighth year of King Gojong, by Jeong Mong-hwa, then magistrate of Hongsan. In 1964 it was moved to its present site within Busosanseong Fortress, and its name was changed from Jiphongjeong to Yeongilru. Yeongilru is a two-storey pavilion three bays wide and two bays deep, with a hipped-and-gabled paljak roof that forms the shape of the character eight when seen from the side. The decorative bracket sets supporting the eaves are built in the dapo style, with brackets placed both above the columns and between them. A plaque reading "Yeongilru" hangs on the front of the building, and compared with other gwana gates, its scale is notably large.
