This is a well said to have been used by the Baekje royal palace during the Three Kingdoms period. The well stands on the site of the Joseon-period government office of Buyeo county, and excavation has revealed the remains of Baekje-era roads and a pond site, suggesting that the location was of significant use during the Baekje period. At the bottom of the well, long dressed stones were assembled into an octagonal ring, with broken stones stacked neatly above. Many foundation stones used in buildings, as well as large stones likely used in building house sites, have been found nearby. The artefacts found around the well reflect Baekje culture, providing an important clue for estimating the location of the royal palace of that time.
