Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krKim Sa-hyeong (1333–1407) was a civil official of the late Goryeo and early Joseon periods, whose family seat was Andong. Together with other senior officials and generals, he supported Yi Seong-gye's rise to the throne and was named a first-class Founding Meritorious Subject (gaeguk gongsin), receiving the title Lord of Sangnak (Sangnak-baek). During the First Strife of Princes in 1398, he led the assembled officials to the palace to request that the legitimate eldest son be installed as heir, and for this contribution to the enthronement of King Jeongjong he was recorded as a first-class Meritorious Subject for Stabilising the State (jeongsa gongsin). Among the Founding Meritorious Subjects he ranked second only to Bae Geuk-ryeom, and as a senior former official of Goryeo of noble and distinguished lineage, pure and lofty in character, he is said to have been particularly prized by Yi Seong-gye. Kim Sa-hyeong's grave is a single mound shared with his wife, of the Juksan Park clan. The mound is hexagonal and surrounded by a retaining stone wall (hoseok) built in three tiers. In front of the mound stand a stone table, an incense-burner stone, a stone lantern, and a pair of civil-official stone figures. The stone lantern and the civil-official figures are in the style of the early Joseon period, and the hexagonal retaining wall around the mound is an unusual example.
