Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis shrine was built by Hong Ga-sin, magistrate of Buyeo, in honour of local loyal subjects: Seongchung, Heungsu and Gyebaek of Baekje, and Yi Jon-o, a loyal subject of the late Goryeo period. Later, the scholar Jeong Taeng-noe was enshrined during the reign of King Seonjo (r. 1567–1608), and the civil official Hwang Il-ho (1588–1641) during the reign of King Injo (r. 1623–1649); the shrine now honours six men in total, with rites held every spring and autumn. The shrine was first built in 1575, the eighth year of King Seonjo, rebuilt in 1641, the nineteenth year of King Injo, demolished in 1866, the third year of Emperor Gojong, and rebuilt again thereafter. The present building originally stood on Mangwolsan Mountain in Yongjeong-ri and was moved to its current site in Namnyeong Park in 1971. The shrine measures three bays across the front and three bays to the side, and is roofed with a gabled roof (matbae) that takes the shape of the character 人 (person) when viewed from the side.
