Dogangyeongdang Hall enshrines the portraits of Hong Ga-sin, Heo Mok and Chae Je-gong, and rites are held here in their memory. Hong Ga-sin (1541–1615) was a civil official of the mid-Joseon period. He passed the civil service examination in 1567, the twenty-second year of King Myeongjong, and served as magistrate of Ganghwa, second minister of the Board of Punishments, and governor of Ganghwado Island. In 1604, the thirty-seventh year of King Seonjo, he was awarded first-class merit subject status for suppressing the rebellion of Yi Mong-hak, and the following year was enfeoffed as Yeongwon-gun. He later rose to the post of minister of the Board of Punishments. Heo Mok (1595–1682) was a civil official of the late Joseon period who, without passing the state examination, rose through the post of minister of personnel to become second state councillor. He was also accomplished in painting, calligraphy and prose, and was especially skilled in seal script, earning praise as the foremost master of his day in the East. Chae Je-gong (1720–1799) was a civil official of the late Joseon period who began his official career after passing the state examination in 1735. He risked his life to oppose King Yeongjo's plan to depose the crown prince, and this won him the king's trust. He subsequently served as minister of the Board of War, the Board of Rites and the Board of Taxation, and held the highest administrative posts of chief state councillor and left state councillor. He also took part in the construction of Suwon Fortress and in compiling the Veritable Records of Gyeongjong, the Veritable Records of Yeongjong, and the Gukjo Bogam (Precious Mirror of Successive Reigns). This building was originally the government office of Buyeo county in the late Joseon period; it was newly built in 1971 to house these portraits. The shrine measures three kan across the front and two kan to the side; the front one kan is left open to form a space for paying respects, while the rear forms a single continuous space holding the portraits of the three men.
