Kim Jeong-guk (1485–1541), pen name Sajae, was a civil official of the mid-Joseon period who, together with his elder brother Kim An-guk, pen name Mojae, suffered harm in the Gimyo Purge of 1519. He was reinstated to office in 1538 and served as governor of Jeolla Province and in senior central posts including junchubusa and donnyeongbusa. Kim Jeong-guk's tomb is a twin mound shared with his second wife, Lady Yi of Gyeongju. The stone furnishings at the tomb include a grave marker, an offering table, an incense-burner stone, a pair of ornamental pillars, a stone lantern, and civil-official statues. A spirit-path stele, a stone pillar set up along the approach to a tomb, also stands at the lower part of the burial ground. The grave marker, in the round-head, square-base form, was erected in 1546. The spirit-path stele, likewise in the round-head, square-base form, was cut from stone prepared by Kim Jeong-guk's grandson Kim Yo-rip, carved with an inscription composed by Bak Se-chae, and erected around 1691; because the inscription had become worn, it was re-erected in 1908.
