This shrine was built by his descendants to honour Kim Suk-ja (1389–1456). Kim Suk-ja, the father of Kim Jong-jik, was a civil official and scholar of the early Joseon period. In 1414, the fourteenth year of King Taejong of Joseon, he passed the lower civil service examination and went on to serve as magistrate of Goryeong and as Saye, an instructor at Seonggyungwan, the state Confucian academy, among other posts. He was deeply filial and placed great weight on putting learning into practice; he also enjoyed teaching others and ensured that the scholarship of Gil Jae was passed on to his son. The shrine was built in 1706, the thirty-second year of King Sukjong, and consists of a gate building, the Chuwondang Hall, and the shrine itself.
