Manghaesanakseojeon Hall
망해사낙서전 · 望海寺樂西殿

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krManghaesa is said to have been built during the reign of King Gyeongdeok of Unified Silla, but the building standing today is said to have been built by the Great Master Jinmuk during the reign of King Injo of Joseon (r. 1623–1649). It was repaired in 1933 and 1977. The roof of Manghaesanakseojeon Hall is a hip-and-gable roof, shaped like the Chinese character for "eight" (八) when seen from the side, and the building has an L-shaped floor plan. The bracket sets supporting the eaves are decorated in the ikgong style, carved in the form of a bird's wing. The single bay projecting at the front has a wooden floor, above which hangs a bell made in recent times. To the right of the building are a room and a kitchen, showing that the hall was used both as a Buddhist worship hall and as monks' living quarters.
