The pagoda consists of a three-storey shaft set upon a two-tier base; it is unusual in that the entire pagoda was carved from a single stone. Pillar shapes are carved on the body stones of the shaft. The roof stones curve upward at the four corners, and the underside of each bears three tiers of supporting eaves. At the top, the finial consists of a noban (a flat decorative base) topped by a bokbal (an upturned-bowl-shaped stone) encircled with a lotus pattern. According to tradition, in the late Joseon period a jwasu, a local official who administered this district, erected the pagoda to pray for a bountiful harvest every year.
