This is a jaesil, an ancestral shrine house, of the Hampyeong Yi clan, built to guard a grave and hold ancestral rites. It originally stood where Yi Seon-ji, during the reign of King Gwanghaegun, built a temporary dwelling below his mother's grave and lived there tending it; his descendants later rebuilt it as a jaesil during the reign of King Sukjong. The present building is the result of a renovation of the old structure carried out in 1897.
