Cheongyang Three-story Stone Pagoda
청양삼층석탑 · 靑陽三層石塔

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis pagoda once stood, together with the Standing Triad Buddha of Cheongyang (a treasure), at the site of an old temple known as Ilmyeongsa. It was later moved to the area behind the county office, then in 1961 relocated and re-erected at its present site. It takes the form of a three-storey pagoda body set on a single-tier base. The base is simply constructed, and the body of each storey is made from one stone for the main body and one stone for the roof, stacked in turn. The front of the first-storey body stone is carved in imitation of door panels. At the top, the finial elements survive, including a noban (an exposed disc supporting the crowning ornament) and an anghwa (a decoration in the shape of a fully bloomed lotus). The pagoda is thought to date from the Goryeo period.
