This mountain fortress, on Gyebongsan Mountain in Jeongsan-myeon, Cheongyang-gun, is also known as Dureungyunseong Fortress or Gyebongsanseong Fortress. The Dongguk yeoji seungnam records that Gyebongsanseong was built of stone and had a circumference of 1,200 cheok. Atop two tall peaks rising behind the village of Baeksil in Baekgok-ri, a wall roughly 540 m long follows the natural contours of the terrain. Lying to the north of Sabiseong, the capital of Baekje, this fortress played an important role in national defence, and after the fall of Baekje it also served as a base for the restoration movement of Baekje's surviving people.
