This is a shrine dedicated to Sin Mal-ju (1439–?), an early-Joseon civil official, whose spirit tablet is enshrined at the centre, flanked on either side by those of Jo Yun-ok and Jang Jo-pyeong, with the tablets of a further seven individuals enshrined to the left and right. Sin Mal-ju passed the state examination in 1454, the second year of King Danjong, and rose to the post of Daesagan, a senior position in the Office of Censors, but when King Danjong was deposed he relinquished his office and spent the rest of his life in Sunchang. Deokcheonsa Temple was established in 1818, the eighteenth year of King Sunjo, though the present buildings were rebuilt after 1917. It measures three kan across the front and two kan deep, and in front of it stands the Naesammun, an inner gate with a raised central section, measuring three kan across the front and two kan deep. To the south stands the lecture hall, Sungjeoldan, measuring five kan across the front and two kan deep, its roof built in the hipped-and-gabled (paljak) style, which viewed from the side forms the shape of the character 八, meaning "eight". The Sungjeoldan shows the typical style of a late-Joseon shrine and is of considerable importance.
