Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis pavilion was built in 1870 by Park Chi-gi, who had served as an official in the late Joseon period. It is said that Park built the pavilion to train his mind and body after retiring from office, and so it was named Toesujeong, meaning a pavilion of withdrawal and self-cultivation. A stream flows in front of the pavilion, and tall rock formations rise up behind it. It is a two-storey building, built with square foundation stones at the base and round pillars set above them, with a single room inside. To the left of the pavilion stands a shrine called Gwanseonjae, built by Park's descendants.
