Sagyejeongsa is a pavilion first built in the mid-Joseon period by Bang Eung-hyeon, an ancestor of the Namyang Bang clan. The stream flowing beside the pavilion is called Moraenae, also known as Sagye, meaning 'sandy stream'. The building burned down during the Japanese invasions of 1592 and was subsequently rebuilt several times by his descendants. Bang Eung-hyeon had no ambition for official rank and spent his whole life here devoted to scholarship. He was close to such noted figures as Yi Hang, No Su-sin, Jo Sik and No Jin, and several of their writings are displayed inside the pavilion. The building has a single room at its centre with a wooden floor on all four sides, following the typical style of pavilions in the Honam region.
