This jeongnyeogak, a memorial gate, was built by the state in 1753, the 29th year of King Yeongjo, to honour the deeds of Yi Heung-bal, a loyal subject of the mid-Joseon period. In 1626, the fourth year of King Injo and the year before the Jeongmyo War, Yi Heung-bal submitted a memorial calling for the beheading of the Qing envoy, and when Joseon was defeated by the Qing in the Byeongja War he relinquished his official post. This jeongnyeogak is notable in that, while most surviving jeongnyeo commemorate filial children and virtuous women, this one honours a loyal subject, and it retains the typical architectural form of a jeongnyeogak intact. Above the jeongnyeogak is Yi Heung-bal's grave, and below it stands a clan ancestral hall built in recent times.
