A yoji is a kiln site where porcelain, roof tiles or other ceramics were fired. The Yeongyang Sinwon-dong white porcelain kiln site operated during the 16th–17th centuries, and three to four separate kiln sites have been found here. Porcelain fragments are scattered across an area roughly 50 m on each side, and the remains of the houses of the potters who worked here also survive. The clay body (taeto) used to make the porcelain is a reddish-brown or greyish-white clay, and the glazes used were bluish grey-white and greyish white. Bowls and dishes make up most of the excavated pieces; their shape features low foot rings with sand adhering to them. In the case of smaller vessels, some appear from the outside to have a foot ring, but the centre of the base is in fact slightly raised. The quality of the porcelain is not particularly high.
