This is a shrine enshrining the spirit tablet of Ha Gyeong-bok (1377–1438), a military official of the Joseon dynasty. Ha Gyeong-bok passed the military service examination in 1402, the second year of King Taejong, and after holding various posts rose to become byeongmasa and byeongmajeolchesa, military commissioner posts responsible for guarding the nation's defences. For fifteen years he confronted the Jurchen along the border region and maintained strict vigilance; notably, in 1433, the fifteenth year of King Sejong, he compiled the Gyechuk jinseol together with Jeong Heum-ji, Hwangbo In and others, which was used as a textbook for military training. He was of a generous character and an excellent archer, and by thoroughly guarding the nation's defences in the early years after its founding he made a great contribution to laying the foundations of the state. Gyeonghyeonsa was built in 1784, the tenth year of King Jeongjo, by local Confucian scholars. It also enshrines the spirit tablets of Ha Gyeong-ri, who looked after his aged mother in Ha Gyeong-bok's stead, and of his son, honoured as Gangjanggong, who succeeded him in subjugating the Jurchen in the northern region, together with his grandson.
