Baegunjeong Pavilion
백운정 · 白雲亭

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis pavilion was built in 1568, the first year of King Seonjo, by Kim Su-il (pen name Gwibong, 1528–1583). Although Kim Su-il had passed the state examination, he did not pursue an official career, remaining instead in his hometown to pursue scholarship and train younger students amid nature. The pavilion measures three kan across the front and two kan to the side, and is roofed with a hipped-and-gabled roof that, seen from the side, takes the shape of the Chinese character for "eight" (八). The name board was written by Heo Mok, but because of the risk of its being lost it is kept separately in storage, so nothing currently hangs on the pavilion.
