Ijeongpyoseok in Naengjeong-ri, Jinju
진주 냉정리 이정표석 · 晋陽冷井里里程標碑石

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis stele is inscribed on its front with "20 ri north of Jinju" (晋州北拒二十里) and is presumed to have served as a milestone guiding travellers on the road to Hanyang, present-day Seoul. According to local legend, Grandmother Magu of Cheontaesan Mountain was carrying three rocks to build Jinjuseong Fortress — one balanced on her head, one used as a walking stick, and one held in the fold of her skirt — when, partway through her journey, she heard that the fortress had already been completed. She then planted the rock she had been using as a walking stick on this very spot. True to the legend, the stele is shaped like a long, slender pillar.
