Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis stele was erected to commemorate and announce the discovery of hot-spring mineral water. It retains the natural shape of the stone, with only the front, back and sides smoothed flat, and the words "Jiguyu" are carved in large characters on the front. In 1918 Yesan County developed a hot spring in the Deoksan area and built accompanying facilities. Later, in 1947, drilling was carried out to a depth of 180 m, and when hot-spring mineral water emerged, it was named "Jiguyu" — meaning water that had come up out of the ground — a new building was erected, and this stele was put up.
