Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krBuseoksa Temple is said to have been built in 677, the seventeenth year of King Munmu of Silla, by the Venerable Uisang, and later repaired by the Venerable Muhak. Within the temple grounds stand Geungnakjeon Hall together with Simgeomdang Hall and Muryangsugak Hall, which are joined to it as a single connected structure, while Anyangnu Pavilion stands in front of Geungnakjeon Hall facing the West Sea. Geungnakjeon Hall measures three kan across the front and three kan on the side, with a gabled roof that forms the shape of the character 人 (person) when viewed from the side. The bracket sets (gongpo) made to support and decorate the roof eaves are in the jusimpo style, with brackets placed only on top of the columns. The building displays the architectural style of the Goryeo period.
