Chirwonsanseong Fortress is a stone fortress built atop a mountain 250 m above sea level in Chirwon-eup, Haman-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do. It is an oval mountain fortress with a total perimeter of 450 m, measuring 180 m from east to west and 57 m from north to south. The exact period when the fortress was built is not known, but according to local residents it was used during the Japanese invasions of 1592–1598. A 1917 survey report, the Joseon Gojeok Josa Bogo (Report on the Investigation of Historic Remains of Joseon), records it as Yuwon-ri Mountain Fortress, a stone fortress spanning Yuwon-ri in Chirwon-myeon and Sinsan-ri in Chilseo-myeon. Part of the fortress wall is now collapsed, but the site of a gate remains, and the remains of building foundations survive within the fortress.
