This shrine holds the portrait and relics of General Jeong Chung-sin (1576–1636), a military official of the early Joseon period. At the age of seventeen the general fought alongside General Gwon Yul during the Japanese invasions of Korea (1592). In the second year of King Injo (1624) he put down Yi Gwal's Rebellion, and during the Second Manchu Invasion he served as Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Eight Provinces. He later held posts as commander of the capital police bureau and as provincial army commander. The shrine was first built by royal command in the 14th year of King Injo (1636) and rebuilt in the 13th year of King Yeongjo (1737). In the 24th year of King Jeongjo (1800) his fifth-generation descendant Jeong Se-hwan, then magistrate of Gokseong, and his ninth-generation descendant Jeong Jae-chil moved it respectively to Sinsi-ri in Jeongmi-myeon and to beside the house of his thirteenth-generation descendant Jeong Jong-yeol; it was moved again to its present site in the 1970s. An exhibition hall on the site holds his relics, including five items designated as National Folk Heritage No. 36, and every year on 25 April (solar calendar) Confucian scholars and his descendants gather to hold a memorial rite.
