Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis Bronze Age site lies within the Army Comprehensive Maintenance Depot in Dong-eup, Uichang-gu, Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, and was excavated over about seven months from October 1992 to May 1993. The excavation revealed 23 dolmens, two pit features, a hwanho (a circular ditch enclosure), and a large stone-built structure measuring 62.3 m long and 21 m wide, judged to have been a burial precinct. Finds included plain coarse pottery, bronze daggers, stone daggers, stone arrowheads and other weapons, together with tubular jade beads, giving some sense of the standing of the ruling class in the Bronze Age. Some of the more than twenty excavated dolmens were restored to their original positions within the Army Comprehensive Maintenance Depot, while Dolmens No. 3 and No. 5 were relocated to Gyeongnam University in 1993. The excavated artefacts are now on display at the Gyeongnam University Museum.
