Oyeonjeong Pavilion is a pavilion built by Chucheon Son Yeong-je, a civil official of the mid-Joseon period. Son Yeong-je was a disciple of Yi Hwang, from whom he received instruction in scholarship and statecraft, and during the reign of King Myeongjong of Joseon (r. 1545–1567) he served as Jeongnang before going on to serve as magistrate of Yean, Gimje and Ulsan. The building standing today was rebuilt by his descendants in 1936.
