Chaeunposeokgyo Bridge Stele
채운포석교비 · 彩雲浦石橋碑

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis stele was erected to commemorate the building of a stone bridge at Chaeunpo; its pedestal and capstone are missing, and only the body of the stele remains. The centre of the top of the stele body is raised in a convex, square shape, suggesting that a capstone was once set here. The name of the stele is carved at the top, with the inscription below it, but the small characters lower down are almost illegible; only the date at the very end, "the 51st year after the founding of the Chongzhen era (1688)," can just be made out. On the side of the stele, characters that appear to be the names of Buddhist monks are faintly visible. It is said to have originally stood on the tidal shore at Yeokcheon, and was moved to its present location in the 1960s.
