Jangdong-ri Tomb sits on the summit of a hill some 10–15m above sea level, at the site now numbered 27-1 Jangdong-ri. The outline of the mound is angular on the north-west side but curves round in a circle on the south-east, giving it a shape close to rectangular yet also showing a circular character. If the mound were truly rectangular, however, it would sit at roughly 45 degrees to the hill's ridge line, which differs from the usual siting of rectangular mound tombs. The flat area, 10–12m across, formed at the top of the mound is not perfectly regular but is circular, suggesting that this is most likely the remaining edge of a round mound whose outer portion has been destroyed. Two sunken hollows have been identified in this flat summit, along with fragments of jar coffins. The tomb measures 25m along its south-west to north-east axis and 18.5m along its south-east to north-west axis, and stands 2.5m high. About 300m west-south-west of this tomb, on a hillside, stand two further tombs, spaced roughly 50m apart along the same ridge. Of these, the upper tomb is circular in plan, around 17m in diameter and about 2m high.
