Agyangjeong, located within the grounds of Deokeunsa Temple, is a pavilion where Jeong Yeo-chang, pen name Ildu (1450–1504), lived in seclusion, pursuing scholarship and training students. Jeong Yeo-chang, an early Joseon civil official and scholar, was a pupil of Kim Jong-jik and studied the Confucian classics and Neo-Confucianism; renowned for his deep learning and upright conduct, he was praised by the people of his time. The building is thought to have been first built around the end of the 15th century, and was rebuilt in 1901, the 38th year of Emperor Gojong's reign, with the support of the county magistrate and the involvement of later generations. In 1920 the building, originally three bays, was extended to four bays, and in 1994 it underwent major repairs with support from the province and county. It is four bays wide across the front, arranged as a room, a two-bay wooden-floored hall, and another room.
