합천 관수정 · 觀水亭

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis pavilion was built in the late 18th century by Yi Bong-seo, a descendant of Yi Yun-seo (1574–1624), a military official of the mid-Joseon period. It stands on a sheer cliff beside the Hwanggang River, commanding a fine view, and just above the pavilion stands Hwanggangjeong, built to commemorate and hold memorial rites for the mid-Joseon scholar Yi Hui-an, pen name Hwanggang. Gwansujeong is a two-bay by two-bay building with single eaves and a hip-and-gable roof, with a wooden floor at the front and a room at the rear. Naechon Village in Seongsan-ri, where Gwansujeong stands, is a clan village of the Jeonseogong branch of the Hapcheon Yi clan, where descendants of Yi Yun-geom (1451–1520), one of the Gimyo Worthies, the reformist scholar-officials purged in the 1519 Gimyo Purge, have lived for generations over more than 500 years.
