Hwanggeum-ri lies in the south-western part of Damyang county, on flat land about 100m north of the point where the Jeungamcheon stream joins the main course of the Yeongsangang River. To the north of the village, a hill descending from Mt. Saminsan continues into the alluvial plain, forming flat land, while to the south an alluvial plain spreads along the Yeongsangang. Since the area around the village is now entirely paddy field, little topographical change can be traced today, but the 1:25,000 topographic map shows that Geumgu-dong Village lies on the south-eastern side of a low, flat-relief hill continuing southward from Gorida Village, and the tomb is presumed to have stood on the ridge of that hill. Bamboo grows to the north of the tomb, and a private grave has been built on the southern slope of the mound. Although the mound's shape has been somewhat altered by the construction of the private grave, it survives in relatively good condition. The mound is circular in plan, measuring 18m in diameter and 2.5m high.
