This is a Bhaisajyaguru Buddha, the Buddha of Medicine, located in Duwol-ri, Isan-myeon, Yeongju, North Gyeongsang Province. Only the upper body is carved, on the upper part of a rock face, standing 78 cm high with shoulders 50 cm wide. Behind the head is a round head halo, and the neck clearly bears three lines known as samdo. The robe draped over both shoulders is carved with soft, flowing folds that together form an attractive whole. The left hand is raised to the chest holding a round bead, and the right hand appears to have hung down, though this part is unfinished. Judging from its style, the statue is presumed to date from the late Silla or early Goryeo period.
