Oncheon-ri Stone Buddha

This statue stands at the Onyang Tourist Hotel in Asan, South Chungcheong Province. It was gathered up and moved here in 1927 from Sinchang-myeon, where it had been broken and scattered. The statue is 84 cm tall overall, with a round face and a robe draped over both shoulders. Both hands are raised together to chest height holding something, giving it something of the appearance of a Buddhist monk. Judging from the overall form of the statue, it is presumed to be a work of the late Joseon period.
