Sinjeong Stele
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

King Sejo, the seventh king of Joseon, inspected the governance and public sentiment of the Chungcheong region, and on his way back after visiting Bokcheonsa Temple on Songnisan Mountain he stopped at Onyang. There he discovered a cold spring beside the hot spring and named it "Sinjeong" (Sacred Well); this stele was erected to commemorate that event. Erected in 1476, the seventh year of King Seongjong, the stele has a granite body set on a square marble base. Much of the inscription is now illegible.
