Hwasun Gwanyeong-ri Ancient Tomb
화순관영리고분 · 和順貫永里古墳

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krBecause the Honam Range runs through its centre, Hwasun-gun is dominated by mountainous terrain, with flat land developing only around Neungju-myeon and Dogok-myeon, where the Hwasuncheon Stream and the Chungsin River join to form the Jiseokcheon Stream. The Gwanyeong-ri area, where the tomb stands, has alluvial flatland along the riverside but is otherwise ringed by mountains some 300 m above sea level, such as Guksabong, Yeonjusan and Bibongsan. The tomb sits on alluvial flatland about 35 m above sea level, formed to the west of the Chungsin River, and the surrounding land is entirely farmed as paddy fields. Because the surrounding land is cultivated as paddy, the edges of the mound appear somewhat worn, but it is otherwise in relatively good condition; there is a sunken section at the top, suggesting it was looted at some point. Local residents call it "Josan". The mound is circular in plan, measuring about 26–27 m in diameter and about 5 m in height.
