Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krChangaejeong Pavilion was built by Yi Jung-gwang (pen name: Changae, 1709–1778). In 1742, the eighteenth year of King Yeongjo, he was recommended and appointed to government office but did not take up the post. Instead he remained here, discussing scholarship with others, devoting himself to study, and training younger students. The pavilion has a floor plan of four bays across the front and three bays to the side, arranged in an L shape, and is roofed with a hipped-and-gabled roof (paljakjibung) whose silhouette resembles the character for "eight" (八) when viewed from the side.
