Guni Village School, Changnyeong
창녕 구니서당 · 昌寧 求尼書堂

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krGuni Village School was built more than 300 years ago by the descendants of Kim Goeng-pil, and was subsequently used variously as a grave shrine and as a village school. In 1866, the third year of Emperor Gojong of Joseon, it was rebuilt as a seowon, a private Confucian academy, enshrining the spirit tablets of four scholars, including Kim Goeng-pil's second son, Eonsang-gong, but it was closed in 1868, the fifth year of Gojong's reign, under Heungseon Daewongun's order abolishing seowon academies. The main hall standing today was enlarged and repaired in 1916. The grounds include the main hall along with a shrine, east and west study halls, a gate tower, and a caretaker's house.
