Manilsa Temple, in Seonggeo-eup, Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, is said to have been founded by Doseon in 921, the fourth year of King Taejo of Goryeo, when a statue of Shakyamuni Buddha and a five-storey stone pagoda are also said to have been made, though this is not considered reliable. The Buddha image, 164 centimetres tall, is carved into the rock face of a natural cave behind Gwaneumjeon Hall. Its head had been lost and was remade in cement, so that it now appears somewhat large in proportion to the body. The deeply carved robe covers the left shoulder; the right hand rests down on the knee with the palm facing the ground, and the left hand rests on the left foot.
