This house was built around 1890 by Dureung Jeong Won-dal (1853–1924), who was known as the wealthiest man in the village. Set with a mountain behind it and a river flowing in front, the house stands on a site once known as the location of the government office of Girian-hyeon County. Originally there was a three-bay outer gate quarters, but this disappeared more than twenty years ago, and only the jeongchim (正寢), the main residential hall of a traditional house, remains today.
