At Tapgol, south of Mangcheon village, lies the site of a former hermitage where a three-storey stone pagoda survives, giving rise to its name, the Mangwol Stone Pagoda; it is presumed to date from the late Goryeo period. In 1982 Heungdeoksa Temple was built and the pagoda was moved onto its grounds; only two storeys now remain. It is also known as the Sawangdo Stone Pagoda. It is said that the Mangwol Stone Pagoda was built to honour the hometown of Queen Heo, though it is in fact presumed to be a stone pagoda of the late Goryeo period.
