Three-story Stone Pagoda in Ihyeon-dong, Jinju
진주 이현동 삼층석탑 · 二峴洞三層石塔

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis pagoda stands in the grounds of Daea High School, with a three-storey body set on a high foundation (gidan). Each corner of the foundation is carved to resemble a pillar, and two further pillar carvings are placed at the centre of each side. Each body stone of the pagoda rests on a two-tiered base carving, and the underside of each roof stone is carved with three-tiered eaves supports. Above the third-storey roof stone sits a bud-shaped finial, which appears not to be original but to have been made and added at a later date. Judging from its overall style and the skill of its carving, the pagoda is presumed to have been built at the end of the Unified Silla period or the beginning of Goryeo, making it valuable material for the study of stone pagoda styles of that era.
