Jangmunpo Waeseong, Geoje
거제 장문포 왜성 · 巨濟 長門逋 倭城

This waeseong — a fortress built by Japan during its invasions of Korea — stands atop a hill at the entrance to Jangmok Bay, north of Geoje-si, Gyeongsangnam-do; Songjinpo Waeseong faces it from across the bay. The fortress wall is 710m in circumference and 3.5m high. Most of the wall has been damaged, and the surrounding area is overgrown with trees and brush, making its exact structure and appearance difficult to determine. Only the base of the wall now survives, and many fragments of roof tile are scattered nearby. Judging from what remains, it appears that a main fortress once stood at the centre of the hilltop, flanked by a second and a third fortress on either side. At the northern end, where a long, curved earthen wall links them, gun embrasures were again set. A garrison called Jangmokjin was later established at Jangmunpo to guard against raids by Japanese pirates.
