Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis hall was built by Gwon Man-du (1674–1753), who used the pen name Jijokdang and served as magistrate of Jangsu. A civil official of the late Joseon period, he passed the state civil examination in the byeonggwa (third) class, rose to Jeongnang, an official of the Ministry of Works (Gongjo), and concurrently served as a court historian and as a lecturer at the Gyeongyeon, the king's lecture sessions. Jijokdang has a ㅁ-shaped (square-courtyard) plan, seven bays across the front and five bays to the side. Its inscribed plaques, royal letters of appointment, and the collected writings known as the Jangsugong-munjip are kept by his lineal descendant, Tae-hun.
