The original location of this statue is unknown; before being moved here it stood in the grounds of Dongbu Elementary School in Hyucheon-dong, Yeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do. Its head had been lost and a new one was made and attached in 1985. The Buddha sits with both feet drawn up onto the knees, soles turned upward, and the robe falls from both shoulders over the arms to wrap around the legs. It is unclear whether the pedestal on which the statue sits is the original one, but its upper, middle and lower tiers are all octagonal, and the sides of the middle and lower stones are carved with eye-shaped ansang, niche-like decorative panels. Judging from the overall carving technique, the statue appears to have been made during the Unified Silla period.
