This is a collection of historical documents compiled to honour the loyalty and filial piety of Bae Sang-yeop, a Confucian scholar of the reign of King Yeongjo (r. 1724–1776) of Joseon, gathering writings by Confucian scholars including the magistrate of Chirwon County. When his parents died, Bae Sang-yeop is said to have built a hut beside their grave and tended it for three years, then gone into the mountains, built an altar, and prayed for sixteen years for the king's (King Yeongjo's) long life.
